Prepare to write by reading. Read good quality texts; it will impact your writing!
Expect to write several drafts, so start early!
Ask people you trust for their feedback

Hassle college staff, or treat them rudely, interactions are tracked and it may negatively impact your application.
Overuse cliches – it won’t help the admissions officer get to know you.
Rely on spell-check – check and check again!
